Coco Gauff vs. Rebecca Marino @ 1:35 p.m. ET: Tennis Channel, TVA Sports, TSN

Canadian WTA veteran Rebecca Marino will go up against American teenager Coco Gauff in Round 1 of the Miami Open this afternoon.

‍

32 year old Marino earned her spot in today’s clash after overcoming Yulia Putintseva 7-6 (4), 6-2 on Tuesday.

‍

Marino put in a strong performance against the World No. 43, serving up ten aces and not facing a single break point throughout.

‍

But she’ll have her work cut out in Miami today against U.S. starlet, who’s the strong favourite and holds a 1-0 lead in the head to head record.

‍

Coco Gauff came out on top in the only previous meeting between the two players, racking up a 7-5 6-0 scoreline to dump Marino out of Roland Garros last year.

‍

19 year old Gauff has a 14-4 record but the World No. 6 has never made it past the fourth round in Miami.

‍

Can Marino pull off an even bigger upset this afternoon?

Jessica Pegula vs. Katherine Sebov @12:20 p.m. ET:  Tennis Channel, TVA Sports, TSN

Toronto’s Katherine Sebov has already reached a career-high 172 world ranking this year after scooping three ITF titles and making her Grand Slam main draw debut at the Australian Open.

‍

The 24 year old arrived in that main draw in Melbourne after battling through three qualifying rounds only to suffer defeat at the hands of World No. 4 Caroline Garcia.

‍

At the Miami Open today Sebov will line up against World No. 3 Jessica Pegula after navigating another three qualifiers, the last of which was a hardfought three sets victory over World No. 50 Linda Fruhvirtova.

‍

That 2-hour 11-minute marathon was the biggest win of Sebov’s career to date. But she had more than a little help from her opponent after Fruhvirtova gave up 13 double faults in Tuesday’s clash.

‍

Jessica Pegula isn't likely to do the same - with World No. 3 having racked up a 15-5 record on the season so far and reaching the quarterfinals of every tournament she’s played at this year.

‍

The one exception was at last week’s BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, where Pegula lost to Petra Kvitová in the Round of 16.

‍

That minor blip won’t stand for much here though, with the American the massive favourite in today’s matchup.
